Board Member do?
BOARD MEMBER JOB DESCRIPTION
GENERAL
DESCRIPTION:
Together with other members of
the Board, new Board members are legally responsible for all activities of the agency.
Major functions of the Board include: policy, planning, resource
development, public and community relations, finance and personnel.
MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

Become fully acquainted with the
organizations: history, mission, services, finances, relationships to other
agencies, etc.

Attend and participate in
scheduled (monthly) meetings of the organization.

Become active in at least one
committee.

Represent the interests of the
organization to the community.

Share your abilities, talents
and knowledge with other Board Members and Coordinator.

Actively communicate your
knowledge of the organization to your friends, acquaintances and the larger
community.
-
Plan to attend agency events to
increase knowledge and awareness of the organization’s activities.
-
Actively participate in
promoting financial support for the organizations (fund raisers).
-
Financially contribute according
to one’s means to ensure 100% Board support.
-
Know the by-laws.
TIME REQUIREMENT:
On average, monthly Board Meetings are 2 hours
plus additional responsibilities.
TERM OF OFFICE: 2-year
commitment minimum, 3 years is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS: Willingness
to become knowledgeable of the organization and have conviction about the
mission and services of the organization.
