Wow!  A miserable day - cold, rainy and windy - and yet, 123 runners, walkers and bikers turned up for some fabulous (if muddy!) wonderfully spirited journeys around Echo Lake , raising money for Orleans County Citizen Advocacy.

The Orleans County Board of Directors and our coordinator, Ellen Bowen, sincerely thank all the people and businesses who helped make the 17th Annual Echo Lake Road Race a fun, safe and successful fundraiser for our nonprofit organization. With so many to thank, we are bound to leave someone out by mistake, and apologize if we have. The Echo Lake Road Race netted over $8000 for Orleans County Citizen Advocacy. Our mission is to build and support one-to-one relationships of friendship and advocacy between community volunteers and people with disabilities. Thanks again for all the support, and see you next year on the last Saturday in August!

We send our thanks to...

the Echo Lake community....

What a beautiful setting! Seventeen years ago, it was Gerry Cahill who suggested that Echo would be a great spot for a race, and it has been! We thank the Engels for sharing their front yard, and Richard Mallory for the parking field, the State of Vermont and all the residents around the lake and the fishermen and women for their hospitality. We also thank Constable Martin Davis, ADA Traffic Control and the Derby Line Ambulance who helped keep everyone safe…

and the Racers!

No matter how many prizes, food, t-shirts and volunteers we pull together, it wouldn’t be much of a race without racers and so, finally, a big thanks to all for their enthusiastic biking, running and walking around the lake, even in the rain, the wind and the mud! Thanks to all the 167 registrants, and especially the 123 brave souls who tackled the course on a such a wild day!
